SHILLONG: Sree Narayana Guru is one of the greatest cosmologists the world has ever seen, said renowned scientist G.K Sasidharan.
Sasidharan, who was in the city for the 13th anniversary of Sree Narayana Guru Cultural Centre in the city, spoke on various scientific topics on the basis of ‘Advaita’ philosophy at Lady Keane College and National Institute of Technology.
Addressing students of Physics and Philosophy, he said the latest findings in modern physics of quantum cosmology were discussed by the Guru a century ago. “The Guru himself was a Brahmacharin, a Brahmagyani, a person well versed in many languages, a great poet, a social reformer and a physician with a magical touch,” said the professor, who is presently translating the 62 literary works of the Guru with his commentaries, adding that he was one of the greatest cosmologists the world has ever seen.
He said it is believed that Adi Sankara is the rebirth of Vedavyas and Sree Narayana Guru is the rebirth of Adi Sankara. They belonged to the same lineage and are considered as the Maharshi trio. “Sree Narayana Guru was an ‘advaiti’ (Maharshi) who blended ‘advaita’ philosophy with modern physics,” said Sasidharan.
On modern physics and quantum cosmology, he spoke about the “observer and observed relationship”, “super position”, “many world concepts” and “life on other worlds”.
