SHILLONG: A photography exhibition depicting the works of Saint Teresa was held at Savio Hall here on Tuesday. The exhibition organised by the Lions Club of Shillong was based on the works of noted photo journalist Sunil K Dutt. Speaking on the occasion, Urban Affairs Minister Ronnie V Lyngdoh said that the photographs have expressed all the works of Saint Teresa who lent a helping hand to the poorest of the poor and the ones neglected by society. “She gave the downtrodden a sense of dignity and when people were dying she was at their bedside. Looking at the photographs will inspire people to promote peace in a world ridden with conflicts, to show compassion to fellow human beings especially to vulnerable sections of society,” he said while lauding the Club for organising the exhibition. Having met Mother Teresa in the year 1989 at Kolkata, president of the Club, D. Debroy recalled his experience. “Debroy, when you work, think that you are serving God,” Mother Teresa had reportedly told him then. Calling her caring and affectionate, he said that she possessed divine strength.
