BGB chief visits city

SHILLONG: A Bangladesh delegation led by Director General, Border Guard Bangladesh Lt. General Aziz Ahmed visited Shillong on Wednesday after it attended a border coordination conference between Director General BSF and Director General BGB in Delhi.
The Bangladesh delegation left Shillong on the same day after visiting Frontier HQ BSF Meghalaya here and a few tourist spots which include Umiam lake, Elephant Falls, Nohkalikai Falls and Root Bridge before crossing over to Bangladesh through ICP Dawki.
During the short visit, the high level delegation also held discussions with BSF officers on issues concerning both the forces. A statement issued by BSF said on Wednesday that during the Directors’ General level border coordination conference held in Delhi from September 30 to October 4, both the forces agreed to effectively implement the Coordinated Border Management Plan for better border management so as to prevent cross border criminal activities, cattle smuggling, fake currency and gold smuggling, illegal migration and human trafficking.
Both the sides also agreed on establishing a mechanism of sharing inputs regarding terrorists operating in border area of either country.
