Tura: Member of Parliament Conrad K Sangma urged Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR) and the line departments of agriculture and horticulture to work together for the welfare of the farming community in Garo Hills.
Addressing the gathering at the inaugural function of the tuber crops and food processing unit at Bajengdoba in North Garo Hills, Sangma said Garo Hills was producing huge quantity of tuber crops but due to lack of processing, farmers were not fetching good price for their produce. The function was organised by ICAR Research Complex and Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Tura under the Tribal Sub Plan. At least 250 farmers participated in the programme.
