Lummawbah school celebrates diamond jubilee

SHILLONG: Shon Roy Basan Secondary School, Lummawbah, Raid Saw Kur Nongkseh, on Wednesday completed its 60th year of educational services with a celebration graced by Urban Affairs and Municipal Affairs Minister RV Lyngdoh as chief guest and Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council Member Teilinia Thangkhiew as guest of honour.
Lyngdoh also unveiled the photo of late JE Tariang, founder of the school and distributed mementoes and awards to meritorious students as well as felicitated teachers who contributed towards education.
Lauding the efforts of the school administration to bring the institution at par with other institutions in the state, the minister said, “I will also do my level best in supporting your cause so that the students of this area receive maximum assistance to achieve their goals.”
Traditional heads of the Raid Saw Kur Nongkseh, heads of institutions, and teachers and students within the Raid Saw Kur Nongkseh were also present on the occasion.
