SHILLONG: The writ petition filed by the MDCs of Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) pertaining to implementation of the ‘Special Assistance’ fund will be taken up by the Division bench of the High Court of Meghalaya on October 19.
The petitioners, who are the elected members of GHADC, filed the writ petition stating that the GHADC is not implementing the ‘Special Assistance’ fund extended by the Central Government as per the guideline besides not allocating equal fund to all the constituencies.
“Having regard to the circumstances, it appears appropriate that this matter be placed before a Division Bench of this Court. This petition, therefore, be placed before the Chief Justice for appropriate assignment,’ the order said.
