Jaipur HC notice to M’laya university

Jaipur: The Rajasthan High Court has taken suo motu cognizance of the illegal functioning of study centres of many private state deemed universities outside the state and issued notices to the Union HRD ministry, the State government, registrar and V-C of Mahatma Gandhi University Meghalaya and secretary UGC, among others.
The single bench of Justice M.N Bhandari issued the notice during the hearing of a petition by Bhawanlal Rana challenging his rejection to the job of information assistant in Meghalaya after the State refused to accept his qualification of PGDCA from the Mahatma Gandhi University, Meghalaya.
The court while dismissing his petition took suo motu cognizance of the number of such private universities and steps taken to regulate their operations. The court asked the additional solicitor general to furnish the information within six weeks.
