Guwahati: Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday urged the bankers to increase enrolment under government’s flagship programmes for effective implementation of these schemes.
“All banks must join hands with the government and ensure successful implementation of government flagship programmes for financial inclusion to brand the possibilities, potentials and prosperity of Assam,” said Sonowal while interacting with the Bankers of the state in the State Level Bankers Committee meeting held here on Thursday.
Expressing satisfaction on credit flow, Sonowal said that banks must increase enrolment under Prime Minister’s Jan Dhan Yojana, Suraksha Bima Yojana, MUDRA Loan, Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Atal Pension Yojana so that benefits under these schemes reaches all in the state.
He also said that around 1.25 lakh small tea growers are engaged in tea cultivation in the state and banks must focus on credit flow to this sector also.
Reiterating Assam government’s commitment to strengthen rural economy, Sonowal said that a mega mission called Chief Minister’s Samagra Gramya Unnayan Yojana (CMSGUY) hadalready been announced in the last budget for next five years in order to double the farm income in the state.
Stating that CMSGUY is aimed to be implemented covering 25,000 revenue villages of the state investing Rs. 30,000 Crorer over a period of five years, Sonowal urged the banks to extend full cooperation in making the mission successful. Sonowal also said that 12 sub-missions for promoting fishery, milk production, organic farming among others would be implemented as focus areas under the CMSGUY.
He also requested the banks to help building the youth clubs and implement the School Development programme. He promised to extend all possible support in recovery of bank loan from defaulters.
