The application form can be obtained for Rs 10 from DC offices. The Registrar of Marriage will issue a certificate of registration free of cost to the couple as proof of registration.  If the memorandum is not submitted within 60 days, there be a fine of Rs 100 for each month’s delay after 60 days up to 120 days. The married couple will also be subject to a fine of Rs 50 to a maximum of Rs 1,000 for each month’s delay after 120 days.   However, the Act does not debar the registration of marriages solemnised before October 5, 2015.
