SHILLONG: The North Eastern Hill University along with Tata Steel will organise a ‘Regional Samvaad (NorthEast India) – A Tribal Conclave’ at the university’s permanent campus here on October 14 and 15. The main function of the Samvaad will be held from November 15-19 at Jamshedpur to commemorate the birth anniversary of Birsa Munda, the iconic tribal freedom fighter, and the Statehood Day of Jharkhand. Committed to preserving and promoting tribal culture, Samvaad 2016 in Shillong will be inaugurated on October 14 at the Multi-Use Convention Hall. Prof. S.K. Srivastava, VC, NEHU will be the chief guest on the occasion. The event in Shillong will be divided in three technical sessions – two on October 14 and one on October 15. A cultural function will also be held on October 14. The first session would be dedicated to this year’s Samvaad, which is tribal health while the second session would have discussions on tribal issues relevant to the region. The third session will be devoted to traditional poetry, music and folklore.
