SHILLONG: Opposition leader and UDP president Donkupar Roy has exhorted party members to work diligently to ensure grand success in the 2018 Assembly election in the state. Asserting that the UDP is poised to the lead the next government in the State, Roy, while addressing party workers at Mawkynrew recently, lauded the efforts of local MLA Remington Pyngrope besides expressing happiness at the return of HS Shylla to the party. He urged Shylla to push for UDP’s win in the coming district council by-election in Nongkrem constituency. Roy also called on the party’s sitting legislators to work harder to ensure that delivery of benefits to the public is made prompt. Meanwhile, the UDP’s Pynursla Circle also held its annual general meeting recently. Wankupar Syiemlieh to contest from Sohiong seat The UDP has decided to field second runner up of the last KHADC election, Wankupar Syiemlieh, from Nongspung-Sohiong seat. Titostarwell Chyne, UDP member and chairman of District Election Committee informed that Syiemlieh was selected by the committee and his candidature will be forwarded to the State Election Committee for formal approval. Syiemlieh will face competition from Congress candidate Nathaniel Osbert Rymmai, son of Home minister HDR Lyngdoh and HSPDP’s Samlin Malniang.
