SHILLONG: The HYC’s Mawsiatkhnam Unit has claimed that the people of the area have not received their electricity bills for the past nine months. The pressure group added that power supply to several houses in the area has also been discontinued.
In a petition to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in charge Umiam Revenue Sub-Division, MeECL, president of HYC’s Mawsiatkhnam unit Edwardson Pyngrope said that it will be difficult for the residents to pay a lump sum amount if bills are not sent regularly.
“People will have to shell out anywhere between Rs 2000-Rs 2500,” he said.
The organization also said that installation of transformers without any fence at two places-Nongkya and Pdengshnong, may prove fatal to children and livestock.
“Two electric posts that have been installed at paddy fields have shoddy foundation and are source of threat to the locals,” Pyngrope added while urging the official to look into the grievances and address them at the earliest.
