SHILLONG: A woman has accused the branch manager of a city-based bank of mentally harassing her over the payment of an education loan of Rs 25 lakh.
Talking to media persons here on Thursday, the woman Marvelyne Nongrum said that she had taken the loan for her son’s Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering course at RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia and has already cleared over Rs 16 lakh of the total Rs 25 lakh borrowed.
However, despite making a payment of Rs 50,000 per month the bank, to her surprise, decided to issue a notice against her, she claimed.
Nongrum also alleged that though the loan amount was Rs 25 lakh the remaining balance was still Rs 35,69170 as per the bank statement. While denying that she got any summons from the bank, she said that the bank was unnecessarily provoking its clients to go to court.
