SHILLONG: The general secretary of the East Khasi Hills Local Taxi Welfare Association (EHKLTWA) will make an attempt to secure the release of taxi driver Aijingsuk Marbaniang who is currently lodged in the district jail following his arrest on Friday for assaulting a constable of Shillong Traffic Branch. Marbaniang has been reportedly booked under the non-bailable section 353 of the IPC. EHKLTWA general secretary Wandonbok Jyrwa said that he would ask for CCTV evidence to ascertain if the cabbie had actually assaulted the constable on duty.  It may be mentioned that police arrested Marbaniang who allegedly challenged constable Boney Warjri of Shillong Traffic Branch and obstructed him from performing his duty at Police Bazaar.
