SHILLONG: With chinks in the State Congress armoury being exposed following the expulsion of party legislator and KHADC CEM PN Syiem, MPCC president DD Lapang on Monday termed it a failure of both the AICC and the MPCC in convincing Syiem to remain in the party.
Asked whether he would resign since he had failed to keep the party united, Lapang replied that he had asked the AICC to appoint a new president but the party high command turned him down.
Lapang also denied that Chief Minister Mukul Sangma’s prolonged tussle with PN Syiem had led to the current situation.
