SHILLONG: The city police have issued an advisory asking people to be cautious against advertisements for computerised lucky draws promising luxury vehicles and items on certain television channels.
SP (City) Vivek Syiem said that calls are made to the subscribers asking them to deposit money in certain bank accounts to claim the prize. The calls usually emanate from Jharkhand and after depositing several installments the caller stops contacting the subscriber.
“The public are cautioned not to fall into such trap of lucky draws. This is a racket,” Syiem said.
