Public rally to condemn crime against women in WKH

NONGSTOIN: The Khasi Students’ Union girls’ wing and the KSU Mawthadraishan circle along with the Synjuk Seng Longkmie Mawthadraishan area have announced a public rally and public meeting on October 22 to condemn the growing cases of crimes against women in the district.The rally and public meeting will be held at Myriaw at 11 am.
Representatives from North East Network (NEN), Chairperson of the Child Protection Meghalaya and members from Meghalaya Legal Forum will attend the rally.
The rally is meant to create awareness on the increasing cases of sexual harassment and domestic violence in various forms, despite the large number of laws to prevent such acts.
The KSU has requested youths, members of Seng Samla Shnong, NGOs, traditional heads, students, teachers and parents to take part in the rally to deliberate on the rise in crimes against women.
