Fireworks order
The District Magistrate East Khasi Hills has directed all temporary fireworks license holders within the district not to sell imported fireworks and firecrackers of foreign origin which are hazardous in nature. Anyone found violating the order will be viewed with seriously.
Appointment
The Meghalaya Pradesh Committee of Dalit Sena was dissolved with immediate effect due to the inactivity of its president, Rom Gopal Pradhan. However, Dalit Sena national president Ramchandra Paswan, on Thursday, stated that Tongkhohoo Lhungdim of Madanriting, was appointed as the new Dalit Sena president.
Seminar
Women’s College, Shillong will organise a two-day international seminar on “Border Trade in North-East India—A Politico-Economic Perspective” on October 21 and 22. Chief Minister Mukul Sangma will be the chief guest at the inaugural session.
Chhat Puja
The Bihari Welfare Association will organise Chhat Puja on November 6 from 3pm to 11pm and November 7 from 3am to 8am at Dhobi Ghat, Rilbong, Polo, Umkaliar, Nongmensong, Happy Valley, Lumdiengjri, CPWD Compound etc.
Coaching
The Coaching-cum-Guidance Centre for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, Shillong located at Groove Side Building, opposite Civil Hospital, Keating Road will conduct a 25-day common coaching programme for the unemployed SC/ST candidates, appearing or preparing to appear in any non-technical and graduate level competitive exams this year, from October 24 to November 29.
Prize distribution
The prize distribution ceremony of the 9th Inter-Shillong Cultural Meet  will be held on  October 23 at Raid Laban Sports, Socio and Cultural Organisation Auditorium,  Bishnupur at 3pm.
AoL workshop
The Sahaj Samadhi Meditation workshop will be conducted by Bhanu Narsimhan, sister of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Founder of Art of  Living Foundation  through Webcast. Thousands from various parts of the country and abroad will learn this unique technique during the three-day programme from October 21-23 between 6.30 to 9 pm. In Shillong the programme will be held at the Aurobindo Institute at Beaver Road in presence of local teachers of Art of Living Shillong Chapter.
