B’deshi migrants in search of livelihood held by BSF

SHILLONG:  The  BSF troops deployed at Gumaghat, South West Khasi Hills district apprehended five Bangladeshi nationals on Friday  while they were infiltrating into Indian territory through Jadukatta river.
They were identified as  Gopal Marak (52), Piliban Sangma (45), Tanay Marak (15)  Nirupi Sangma (28) and Milition Sangma (18 ). All these Bangladeshi nationals are residents of  – Aanandpur of Sunamganj district, Bangladesh.
During questioning, Tanay Marak, Nirupi Sangma and Milition Sangma revealed that Gopal Marak and Piliban Sangma had motivated them for labour work at Rajaju coal quarry and crossed the border
Later, it was confirmed that duo are touts and assist the Bangladeshi nationals in crossing the border for labour   work in quarries.
It was also known that Gopal Marak had worked at 4 Basti at Barsora coal quarry for the last 3 months and Piliban Sangma two years ago.
Nirupi Sangma had worked as labourer 10 months ago at Rajaju coal quarry in South West Khasi Hills.
The remaining two intruded into the Indian territory for the first time.
Mobile phones with Bangladeshi SIM, personal belongings and Indian currency notes were also recovered from their possession. All the apprehended persons and seized items were handed over to the concern department for further legal action.
