Duped
Kerdamon Warjri lodged a complaint that in the year 2014, she struck a deal to purchase a house belonging to one Devajyoti Dev and his wife Jaytita Dev at Lumsohra, Laitumkhrah, Shillong.  She paid them Rs. 2,50,000 as an advance payment for the deal on February 18, 2014.  After a few months, the duo informed the complainant that the property is not for sale anymore, cancelled the deal and promised to refund the amount paid to them. However, they paid Rs. 1 lakh after a year and failed to refund the remaining amount, till date.
Illicit liquor seized
Police intercepted one local taxi (ML-06-7765) which was used for illicit liquor sale at Nongbah Bridge, Nongstoin.  Efforts were made to arrest the driver, but he managed to escape.
Conviction
The Court of Judicial Magistrate on Tuesday convicted two persons for creating nuisance under the influence of alcohol. The court convicted Ankit Masih and Ashish Masih under Section 110 (1)(b)(e) of the Meghalaya Police Act. It also imposed a fine of Rs 5000 on each of them.
