Indicating that an acting DGP would be appointed for a few days, Sangma said the government would make appropriate arrangements after the retirement of the incumbent DGP.
The first meeting of the State Security Commission on August 31 was chaired by Sangma to discuss the selection of the new DGP.
As per the seniority list, the five eligible IPS officers for the DGP’s post are YC Modi (1984 batch), PS Purohit (1985 batch), RP Agrawal (1986 batch), who are all on deputation to the Centre, Raghvendra Awasthi (1985 batch), who is the current DG (Civil Defence and Home Guards), and SB Singh (1986 batch), who is at present holding the charge of Additional DGP (Law and Order).
