Local holiday
The Deputy Commissioner, West Garo Hills District has informed that November 10 will be a local holiday in the district on account of the 100 Drums Wangala Festival at Asanang.
Vigilance Week
Powergrid organized a walkathon to generate awareness against corruption as part of the Vigilance Awareness Week observation on November 3. The awareness walk was organized in association with Dr. Radhakrishnan Boy’s H.S School and Umpling Girls H. S. School. All the students and teachers of the schools joined the Powergrid employees in the walkathon.
Awareness programme
A state level awareness cum sensitisation campaign on Global Iodine Deficiency Disorders Prevention Day was held in the city on Thursday. The programme was organised by the National Health Mission, Meghalaya. Officials from the Health and Social Welfare departments among others were present in the programme.
Book fair
The Shillong Bible and Book Fair organised by Word of Christ, Chennai will be held from November 3 to 9. A variety of devotional books, books for kids and second hand books will be available at the fair.
Rajya Puraskar Rally
The Bharat Scouts and Guides Rajya Puraskar Rally will be held on November 7 on the occasion of Bharat Scouts and Guides Flag Day at the Raj Bhavan, Shillong. On the occasion, the Meghalaya Governor will present awards and certificates to 38 Guides, 40 Scouts and 8 Rovers and will felicitate Metilda Lyngdoh and Paleisimai Tariang for the Asia Pacific Adult Achievement Award. The HL Mizo Scout Unit will also be felicitated for winning the Prime Minister Shield Competition.

The KSU congratulated its sports secretary Johny Nongrum who will compete in the MMA fight to be held in Mizoram from November 5.  Nongrum, who hails from Ri Bhoi, is the sports secretary of the KSU, northern border area. The KSU wished Nongrum all the success.
