‘NE needs to produce more leaders’

SHILLONG: The North Eastern Council (NEC) celebrated its 45th Foundation Day at the Council Auditorium in Nongrim Hills, Shillong on Monday.
Anand Pillai, prominent Leadership Trainer and Managing Director of Leadership Matters Inc delivered the foundation day lecture on the theme of leadership qualities on the occasion.
While discussing the nine basic leadership qualities devised by him, Pillai emphasised on an eagle like approach so far as work culture is concerned. He stressed on sustainable growth through team building and is of the opinion that  one has to go beyond resources to achieve the goal.
“We should take the responsibility to mentor our own kind. The North Eastern region should produce leaders and not rely on others,” he said.
He spoke about renewal in our daily lives which revolves around the word ‘SPICE’ which stands for Spiritual, Physical, Intellectual, Community and Emotion.
C.K. Das, member of NEC while speaking on the occasion, reflected on hindrances in the development of the North Eastern Region.
He felt that keeping pace with growth in population of the region resulting in massive demographic change, employment potential and developmental initiatives have to grow.
Ram Muivah, Secretary, NEC, gave an account of the success stories of NEC over the last four and half decades. He observed that NEC has so far created 14 iconic projects in the region and will be able to create many more if resources are forthcoming.
