SHILLONG: The Centre of Excellence in Indian and Western Music (CEI&WE) will organise a grand audition in the city for selecting candidates for one of the finest programmes in Indian and western music.
The audition — which started from Williamnagar in East Garo Hills on November 7 and then taken to Resubelpara, Mairang, Tura and Ampati on November 8 and 9 — will be held at State Central Library in the city on November 12. It will be held on the same day at at Khliehriat West Community Hall.
In Nongpoh, the audition was held on Thursday and Jowai and Baghmara will have their turn on Friday.
The concluding day of the audition is November 14 at Tyrsem Hall in Nongstoin.
This is the first time that any government has implemented a music training initiative and the centres in Shillong and Tura promise to impart the best training to musical aspirants in the State.
During the audition, a 60-second video will be recorded by the auditioning team.
An expert panel comprising musicians will review the tapes and select the best candidates.
The decision of the expert panel would be final and cannot be contested.
It may be mentioned that the audition tapes will be retained by the Centre of Excellence in Indian and Western Music for further offers and intimations regarding specialised music mentorship programmes and workshops etc
