Children’s Day celebration

SHILLONG: The Bridge of Hope, an NGO, organised an advanced Children’s Day celebration at its centre in Madanrting Lumkhar-kongor Block-D, Sawlad with underprivileged community children. Around 150 children came from different project centres in Umbir, Umtholong, Nongstoin and gathered to celebrated the day.
During the program, the children performed khasi folk dance and songs followed by various cultural dances.
On the occasion, MLA of Nongkrem constituency, Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit witnessed the program as the chief guest. He also delivered a brief message to encourage the children. The children were also gifted warm clothes and school bags.
The NGO is presently working in various states among children of the less fortunate and has also provided help to over 1000 children within the State. The Bridge of Hope also serves daily meal and provides school and hygiene items on a monthly basis to needy children along with various seasonal items and gifts each year.
Meanwhile, SPARK will also be organising a special programme for underprivileged children on Monday.
Children from Anjali, Mawlong, Pongkung, Mawynrei and Rangmen will be going on an exposure trip to Don Bosco Mawlai Museum from 10 am to 12.30 p.m.
The children will also visit Lady Hydari Park where the Rotary Club of Shillong will also take part in the programme where they will administer the children with deworming medicine.
