NE awards
Christ School International, Nongsder, Umiam, in collaboration with Don Bosco Museum, Mawlai will give away the 4th North East Awards in the fields of social work, tribal literature, educating youth and peace to eminent personalities from Northeast on December 10 on the Christ School premises. The award also consists of a cash prize of Rs.25,000. Luminaries in the above fields of work can send their bio data to the Principal Christ School either in person or by email: [email protected].
Diabetes walk
Bansara Eye Care Centre, Society for Promotion of Eye Care and Sight, World Diabetes Foundation and Meghalaya Women’s Alliance celebrated the World Diabetes Day by organizing a Global Diabetes Walk on November 14. Over 250 people took part in the walk. Alongside the awareness events and campaigns, screening of patients detected with diabetes was carried out at Civil Hospital Shillong.
HYC unit
The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) constituted its Malki circle on November 14 at Indoor Stadium Malki Khliehshnong. The president of the circle is Vicky Kharumnuid while Donkupar Kharkongor is the general secretary.
Children’s outing
The NSS unit of St. Edmund’s College organised an exposure tour for school children of the adopted villages of Dewlieh and Mawdulop on the occasion Children’s Day. The children were taken to Edmund Rice Institutions, Don Bosco Museum and Science Centre NEHU. About 60 students accompanied by volunteers benefitted from the tour.
Book fair
A week-long Christian Book Fair organised by Beautiful Books, Chennai commenced on Monday above ICICI Bank Building, Laitumkhrah Police Point. The fair will be open till Saturday. Dr. Joshua Thomas, Deputy Director, ICSSR-NERC, inaugurated the fair.
Garment distribution
The Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama at Cherrapunjee (Sohra) organised an adult garment distribution programme for the poor of Sohra region on Monday. The villagers and headmen from Mawmluh, Khliehshnong, Maraikaphon, Pomsohmen, Laitduh, Nongsteng, Umblai, and Rumnong participated in garment distribution programme.
