SHILLONG: A section of vehicle owners have sought clarification from the officer in charge of Dawki police station for their arrests and a fine of Rs 10, 000 per truck as they did not use the Sohkha weighbridge for weighing commodities for export to Bangladesh.
Eight of the affected persons have sent a petition to the OC even as they made arrangements among themselves to have the trucks weighed at Dawki weighbrige as directed by the Transport department at Tamabil.
These persons identified as  Langstang, J. Lamin, K. Lamin, Kenny Kharsandi, L. Gashnga, B. Mukhim, Stevenson Khonglah, and Larius Khonglah, alleged that the OC refused to listen to their  plea.
“He asked for our vehicle documents but we told him that the papers are in Shillong, but he refused to buy this and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on each truck even as we were able to pay only Rs 2000,” the petitioners said.
