SHILLONG: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma’s recent jibe at Union ministers for their frequent visits to the Northeastern states has earned the wrath of Tura MP Conrad Sangma who has asked the chief minister to first check his travel expenditures.
Speaking to media persons in the city on Saturday, Conrad said the chief minister should check how many visits he has made to New Delhi and what expenditure he incurred for these.
Slamming the State government, Conrad said the visits by Union minister lead to better monitoring of schemes and progress in work by each department and this puts pressure on the State government.
“I urge them (Union ministers) come to the North East even more,” he said.
Earlier, Mukul has said they would investigate the intent of the Union ministers who are making a beeline for the North East, including Meghalaya.
