Team RUNmeghalaya shines in Delhi Half Marathon

SHILLONG/ DELHI: Nine marathon runners from Team RUNmeghalaya participated in the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon held on Sunday. The team secured three podium positions in Amateur HalfMarathon category with Stilin Jyrwa and Darishisha Iangjuh bagging first place in their respective categories; and Tlanding Wahlang second position in 35 age category. Team RUNmeghalaya extended its gratitude to coach Donkupar Kharjana who assisted in logistics in getting the team to Delhi and day-to-day management of the runners. The team also thanked the PHE Dept, DC East Khasi Hills, DC SouthWest Khasi Hills and Sports and Youth Affairs Department for their support. . Meanwhile, reigning Olympic marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge of Kenya expectedly won the men’s race of Delhi Half Marathon in a fast time but below the course record while Ethiopia’s Worknesh Degefa clinched the women’s title. Among Indian elite men category, G Lakshmanan, emerged as winner. In Indian elite women’s race Monika Athare made the finish line with a time of 1 hour 15 minutes and 34 second just one second ahead of Sanjeevani Jadhav (1:15:35). (With inputs from PTI)
