TURA: Concerned parents of students have written to the District School Education Officer in West Garo Hills complaining against the collection of fees from students of Class I to Class VI at the Tura Town Higher Secondary School.
According to the notification issued in 2015 by the DSEO under RTE Act, 2009, all heads of government and government-aided institutions were directed not to collect fees from students of Class I to Class VIII.
According to the complaint, many poor students, who cannot afford to pay the fees, have been deprived of elementary education.
The concerned parents have urged the DSEO to look into the matter and take action against the school authority for violating the RTE Act.
