SHILLONG/ NONGSTOIN: Three candidates from the HSPDP filed their nominations at the deputy commissioner’s office on Monday for the upcoming KHADC by-election.
Hubert Ford Riang of Mawmluh Smit filed his nominations from 8-Nongkrem constituency while Banri Kupar Wahlang filed his nominations from 15-Laban-Mawprem constituency. Samlin Malngiang filed the nomination from 22-Nongspung-Sohiong constituency.
In addition, UDP candidate Morning Tympuin filed his nominations before the District Election Officer, West Khasi Hills for the Rambrai-Jyrngam constituency. The UDP candidate was accompanied by party leaders including Nongpoh MDC Rona Khymdeit and party vice president Allan Dkhar.
The filing of nomination papers started from Monday and the last date is November 28 before 3pm. Scrutiny of papers will be done on the same day.
The Commissioner and Secretary of the District Council Affairs on Monday issued notification for the by-election to 8-Nongkrem, 15-Laban-Mawprem, 22-Nongspung-Sohiong, 23-Mairang-Nongkhlaw, 24-Pariong-Mawthadraishan and 28-Rambrai-Jyrngam in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council and 1-War-East in the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council.
The last date for withdrawal of nomination papers is December 1 and that for finalisation and publication of valid nominations and allocation of symbols is December 3.
The election will be held on December 13 and the counting will take place on December 16. The poll will commence at 7 am and will close at 4 pm on December 13.
