Jain Acharya brings message of peace to city

SHILLONG: The 11thAcharya of the JainTerapanth, Acharya Shri Mahashraman, is in the city for the first time for the Ahimsa Yatra that is aimed at spreading the message of morality, harmony and de-addiction.
The Acharya arrived in Shillong on Wednesday and will be here till Sunday. The religious discourse at Aurobindo Ashram is between 9.15am and 11am.
Shri Mahashraman, despite being the Acharya of a religious order, has liberal and secular views. He is a thinker and has a firm conviction to promote non-violence, moral values and principles. The Pacific University has conferred the title ‘Shantidoot’ on the Acharya, who is an eloquent orator, and the Indian Digambar Jain Pilgrimage Committee has adorned him with ‘Shraman Sanskriti Udgata’.
Many political and religious leaders of the state met the spiritual leader.
