Villages functioning without healthcare centres

SHILLONG: A delegation of traditional heads on Friday met the Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Roshan Warjri and apprised the minister of the non existing health care centres in their village.
“We informed the minister that there are 12 villages which the Sub-center caters to. There are about 20,000 people residing in these villages which call for a need to set up a PHC,” Rocky Kylla, chairman of the Synjuk Rangbah Shnong Khrum Diengiei. They also informed that nurses from the sub-center were transferred to Rynjah Dispensary, Shillong.
The leaders from Khrum Diengiei and Umraleng Ri-Bhoi district were accompanied by UDP member and MDC Umroi Donkupar Sumer.
Warjri has assured the delegation that the restoration of the sub-center will be taken up while the establishment of PHC at the village will be thoroughly examined.
