TURA: The job cardholders under Moulakandi VEC in West Garo Hills have urged the Selsella block development officer to cancel the current VEC President’s appointment as “he is already holding the post of assistant teacher in a local school”.
Md Akidur Rahman was serving as an Assistant Teacher of Matramchigre SSA UP School when he was elected as the VEC president in an election held on November 19.
Fearing that Rahman’s dual posts would affect development projects under the VEC, the card holders  urged the BDO to cancel his appointment if he does not choose either one post.
“He had made it clear in a declaration before the elections that he would choose any post if he won the election, which is yet to be acted upon. Besides, as per guidelines, it is illegal to hold two posts so he must choose either one,” the job cardholders said.
