EKH DC urges census town residents to fight garbage menace

SHILLONG: East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner PS Dkhar has called upon residents of the 10 census towns to fight the menace of garbage and filth in their respective areas.
At a gathering held at MIIT, Dhankheti, with the towns falling under the Mylliem Development Block, Dkhar stated that the district administration and the Mylliem Block has gathered the respective traditional heads of the areas to eradicate the widespread problem of garbage.
Dkhar observed that the coordination of the traditional heads with the state government will help clean the towns.
The ten census towns are Mawlai, Mawpat, Pynthorumkhrah, Nongmensong, Nongthymmai, Umpling, Madanryting, Nongkseh, Umlyngka and Lawsohtun.
Environmental Engineer, Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board, Wanshan Kharkrang, Consultant SBM, PHE, Mark West Kharkongor, and Coordinator SBM, Pynursla Block, A Marbañiang among some others also spoke on the occasion.
