SHILLONG: The Resident Medical Officer of the Rajiv Gandhi Indian Institute of Management (RGIIM), Shillong, W.E Lyngdoh, resigned on Wednesday as part of an out-of-the-court settlement with the Institute.
Lyngdoh will then join her parent Health and Family Welfare department.
Earlier, the appointment of Lyngdoh at Rajiv Gandhi Indian Institute of Management was on a probation basis for a period of one year.
Thereafter, a committee was constituted by Indian Institute of Management to assess the performance of the doctor and based on the report of the committee, the Indian Institute of Management on August 29, 2016, terminated her service with effect from August 31.
However, the aggrieved doctor approached the High Court of Meghalaya and secured a stay on the decision of the Rajiv Gandhi Indian Institute of Management.
When the case came up for hearing on Wednesday, the parties informed the court that on the intervention of the friends and well-wishers, they arrived at an amicable settlement.
The withdrawal of the termination letter by the Rajiv Gandhi Indian Institute of Management and the letter submitted by the doctor to the Chairperson, Meghalaya State Commission for Women, are part of the memorandum of settlement, among others.
