New 101 area GOC

SHILLONG: Lieutenant General Depinder Singh Ahuja has taken over as the General Officer Commanding 101 Area with effect from November 26.
Commissioned into the Bengal Sappers in Dec 1981, the general officer has had an illustrious career spanning 35 years, a statement said on Thursday.
As a young officer, he has commanded the Bengal Sappers contingent in the Republic Day parade in 1984. He has been a military observer at Angola as part of the United Nations Mission. He has also been an instructor at the prestigious Defence Services Staff College in Wellington.
