SHILLONG: Fresh FIRs have been filed in connection with the alleged irregularities in the mid-day meal scheme in East Jaintia Hills even as blame game continued over its implementation.
Shanbor Suja of Ladrymbai Dongwah in East Jaintia Hills lodged a complaint that two sacks of spoiled rice meant for the Upper Primary School in the area was given to one Hiarmon Biam.
Later, it was found that one Wansymper Biam, secretary of Ladrymbai Dongwah, had collected Rs 1,056 from Hiarmon. The latter, along with Wansymper Biam and Marshall Biam, misused the MDM rice with the intention to tarnish the reputation of the School Managing Committee and the village as well.
On the other hand, Marshall lodged a complaint against Shanbor and the principal of the Upper Primary School, President Lyngdoh, alleging that they sold the rice meant for mid-day meal.
The complaint also identified two persons, Ebormi and Bipin, who allegedly transported five bags of rice from the school to the residence of the Principal in a pick-up van.
In another FIR, Marshall alleged that three persons — Shanbor, President and Hunmon Rymbai — forced Hiarmon to give a false statement in their favour.
Meanwhile, East Jaintia Hills police said the case has been registered and the matter is under investigation.
Earlier, as many as three FIRs were filed in East Jaintia Hills in this case.
