SHILLONG: With the dwindling cadre strength and finance, GNLA may recruit more minors, both underground and over ground, to sustain the outfit.
The matter came to light after the recent arrest of a boy on November 30 in West Garo Hills.
According to police, GNLA chief Sohan D. Shira gave money to the minor boy to target surrendered GNLA cadres.
The GNLA also took the help of the minor to abduct a teacher in Garo Hills.
Police sources said they are keeping a close watch on the activities of GNLA to thwart its attempt to lure minors.
Police are planning to create more awareness programmes in parts of Garo Hills to prevent school dropouts and others from joining the outfit.
According to police, this is an opportune time to herald peace in Garo Hills with a series of arrest and surrender of GNLA cadres and those of other outfits.
