Agartala: The BJP state committee on Monday rejected pre-electoral tie up with any regional parties, including Indigenous Nationalist Party of Tripura (INPT) or Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT).
Party president Biplab Deb said regional parties have been persuading their localised agendas, which are not fit to the suit of BJP like nationalist party.
Moreover, BJP has been expanding its support base even at the tribal hamlets and people are joining the party because of its pro-people activities.
“Hundreds of people, including tribals, are deserting other parties like ruling CPI-M and joining to BJP only because of its national character and commitments. BJP has now been able to challenge CPI-M in the recently held by-elections in the state,” Mr Deb stated.
He, however, pointed out that any pro-poll alliance with any party might not be effective for BJP in Tripura.
“Rather BJP alone can fight in the next assembly election with its full force and certainly will able to evict Left Front government,” he said.
He welcomed 16 leaders of Congress, Trinamool Congress, IPFT and INPT on Monday in a brief function at the party headquarters while another 31 tribal families of Amarpur in South Tripura have joined in BJP deserting IPFT.
“Besides, opposition parties a large number of leaders and supports of ruling CPI-M will join BJP early next year. And the party is all set to begin election activities for assembly poll in  February 2018 in next couple of months,” Mr Deb said.
He appealed the leaders of INPT and IPFT to merge with the BJP to oust the CPI-M led government in the state and said only Prime Minister Narendra Modi could safeguard the interest of indigenous people of the state. (UNI)
