NPP unit writes to Assam MLA on poor link roads

SHILLONG: The Kharkutta unit of the National People’s Party (NPP) has submitted a memorandum to Dudhnoi MLA in Assam Dipak Kr Rabha demanding immediate repair of several link roads connecting the two states.
In a memorandum submitted to the Assam MLA, the party said the link road from Kharkutta to Daranggiri, which is under the North Eastern Council (NEC), measuring up to 10-15km is in a dilapidated condition making transportation difficult.
Daranggiri is famous for supplying bananas, ginger, betel nut, brooms and bamboos. But trade has been affected owing to the bad road.
The party said the road connecting Mendipathar and Krishnai, which again comes under NEC, also requires immediate repairing since recently, a railway station has been inaugurated and as per the norms, it should be a double-lane road but the condition of the link road is not motorable.
The NPP unit demanded immediate repairing of link roads from Khaldang (Resubelpara) to Krishnai, Adokgre to Dupdhara (Assam), and a bridge over a link road Tengasot, (Garo Hillls) Damra (Assam) in Goalpara district.
