CSWO urges Guv to reject recommendation

Selection of magistrates in KHADC

SHILLONG: The CSWO has urged Governor V. Shanmuganathan to reject the recommendation for recruitment for the post of magistrate in the KHADC.
CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing said, “We will write to the Governor and urge him to not pass the recommendation if it is forwarded by the District Council Affairs (DCA) department and to put it on hold and get the cancellation of the selection which is not acceptable.”
She added that the process is unacceptable and should not be encouraged.
Referring to the issue in which the written test marks (200) were lower than the marks for personal interview (500), Kharshiing said, “The panelists should have objected to the 500 marks for the personal interview as such a practice is unheard of.”
She said that it is the first time she has heard of 500 marks being allotted for a personal interview and 200 for written test and questioned as to whether meritorious students stand a chance in such a situation.
Questioning the delay of declaration of the results, she said, “Why do such processes take so long? It happens in every department. It seems there is manipulation, if there is vacancy, it should immediately be filled up.”
Meanwhile, KHADC CEM P.N. Syiem said, “It has been forwarded to the Governor and has already been approved.”
It may be recalled that the CSWO is crying foul over the way the KHADC conducted the recruitment of magistrates. The CSWO noted that it took over a year for the results of the interview to be declared and to add to it the marks for personal interview was significantly higher than that for the written test.
