TURA: A number of roads in Garo Hills connected to the Assam side of the border which have faced neglect because of its proximity to the inter-state boundary and were termed as ‘Orphan’ roads could soon be adopted as a representation has been made by the Tura Lok Sabha MP, Conrad K Sangma, to both the Union government’s DoNER Ministry and the Assam Government for a developmental package to ease the difficulties faced by the population residing in these areas. Sangma sought the intervention of the Assam government for the construction of a bridge over the Dumra/Dudhnoi river at Damra, on the Assam side of the border, which would reduce the distance and time spent by people from both sides to travel.
