TURA: At a time when there is brouhaha over cashless transactions, a local politician found himself at the receiving end of the ‘insecure’ e-payment system.
Parliamentary Secretary and Rajabala MLA Ashahel D. Shira recently tried to transfer cash through e-wallet app Paytm to a relative but the transaction failed.
“One of my relatives needed money urgently and because of the demonetisation and the limited cash transaction I had used Paytm for a cashless transaction. The money was debited from my account but it never got credited to my relative’s account,” said Shira.
Expressing concern over the use of e-cash through internet portals he said people should be “extra careful while making such cashless transactions”, particularly in Garo Hills where mobile network is poor.
