SHILLONG: The North Khasi Hill district unit of the Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) said on Wednesday, a day after media reports said some of its members have quit the organisation, there was no rift in the group.
FKJGP North Khasi Hill president B.L Dhar, in a press conference on Wednesday, said, “We cannot hold back anyone from staying or leaving the organisation. However, only a few members have deserted for reasons best known to them. But as was flashed in newspapers that most of the members are from the circle is false because in some of these areas we have only units.”
Dhar also said reports that the Nongpoh circle was dissolved were baseless. However, L. Lyngdoh, FKJGP North Khasi Hill general secretary, admitted that in some areas a few of the units are defunct.
The organisation will look for new members following the desertion.
