SHILLONG: Members of the Meghalaya State Government Employees’ Federation (MSGEF) in a meeting held this month resolved to request the State government to consider enhancement of dearness allowance (DA) due with effect from July 1, 2016.
In a statement to the press, S. Syiemlieh, secretary general, MSGEF, said the federation had written to the State government on December 6 on the matter.
The federation members also met the Chief Secretary on December 16 and submitted a memorandum with the request to consider enhancement of the DA at the earliest, as the revision is necessary to protect the real pay of the employees against the rise in price of commodities and services.
Meanwhile, UDP leader Allantry Dkhar expressed concern over the fact that government employees have been deprived of their DA dues which was supposed to be cleared in October.
“The government needs to ensure that it resolves the issue at the earliest,” he said in a statement.
When contacted, Sanjay Goyal, Secretary Finance, said that advance salary for government employees has already been released.
