SHILLONG: In continuation of the letter written by former Lok Sabha Speaker late P.A. Sangma regarding the installation of a life size statue of former President late Dr. A.P.J. Adbul Kalam, who breathed his last at IIM Shiilong in the lecture session on July 27 last year, the Tura MP Conrad Sangma has reminded Prof Amitabha De, Director IIM on the matter.
In a recent letter addressed to IIM Director, Conrad said that R.A. Mashelkar, former director general of Council of Scientific & Industrial Research had also felt the need of installing the statue at IIM’s entrance so as to instill his India-Vision among the students, visitors and the public alike.
It was after a medical practitioner Dr George John based in Dehradun submitted a written suggestion that late PA Sangma first wrote a letter to the IIM Director.
Dr John had also taken up the matter with Dr Mashelkar.
“Once again, I request you to initiate steps to install a life size statue of late Dr. Kalam at the entrance of IIM without any delay as this will fulfill the dream of my late father”, Conrad said in the letter.
