SHILLONG: The magisterial inquiry team constituted to probe the alleged embezzlement in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council will submit its report by January.
District Council Court Judge S. Kharsyiemlieh, who was speaking at a function, said to reporters, “We have collected all documents related to the matter and are in the process of recording statements.”
It was alleged that Rs 2 crore of Council funds were siphoned off to the personal accounts of the KHADC functionaries.
The PDF coalition in the KHADC had given the inquiry committee two months’ time to submit the report (December 19).
However, it served an extension date to the committee when the two-member team did not meet the deadline.
Kharsyiemlieh added that after examining the statements, the report will be sent to the executive committee by the second week of January.
Kharsyiemlieh said former secretary to the KHADC EC Welljune Syiemlieh would soon be summoned before the inquiry committee for his statement.
