SHILLONG: The State Government employees will once again get a prolonged holiday as government offices will start functioning only from January 2 next after the last working day of the year on Friday.
There was thin attendance in various government departments on Friday as many had taken leave.
Though December 28 and 29 were working days, the State Government had already declared these two days as holidays for the continuity of the Christmas festival.
The government will compensate these two days in March 2017.
The Christmas holiday will extend till January 1, but even after this, any semblance of work at government offices will be visible only from January end.
