8-year old rescued from abductor within 36 hrs

Coimbatore: Thirty six hours after he was kidnapped and a ransom demand made, an eight-year-old boy was rescued and a colleague of his father, a coir worker, arrested, police said here on Friday.
They said Manjo, a third standard student, had been reported missing on Wednesday last after he went for a hair cut. Following this his father, a coir manufacturing unit worker, lodged a complaint with police.
Suspecting involvement of one of his colleagues, who was not seen at that time,police called him up and questioned him, following he reportedly confessed to having kidnapped the boy.
He also said he had demanded Rs 40,000 ransom for the boy’s release and threatened the family with dire consequences if police were informed. (PTI)
